Technology and Elementary Education Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
The Nettle Creek School District began redesigning their technology curriculum last year. The state has begun requiring schools to create Technology Plans that must be approved by the state in order to receive grant monies. The process was also incorporated into our school improvement plan, which is also required by the state. Our school district started the process last year by creating a technology committee that consisted of our Superintendent and two teachers, one being myself. We attended numerous workshops to determine what the state was requiring and began the process. We conducted a needs assessment by surveying students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders in the district to determine what they wanted in terms of technology. The technology committee then followed the Illinois E-Plan that was created for school districts to follow. The plan took several months to complete, but when the plan was completed, it was presented in a regular school board meeting and they were given a general overview of what it consisted of.
