Stone Cold essay by Louis Williams Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Through the characterization of Link, and others in the novel Stone cold our attitudes are challenged towards youth homlessism. Our views are challenged in the novel Stone Cold when we learn of Links past and his reasons for being homeless. As we learn his step-father physically and verbally abused him which caused Link to want to leave home as soon as possible. He didnt care if he had to live on the streets and starve. All he wanted was not to be where his step-father, Vince was. Thus it could be said that Link had no choice in the matter. So we learn that Link reasons contradict the stereotypical homeless persons reasons. We once again notice Link to contradict the stereotype bestowed onto homeless people as he doesnt use the money they give him for drugs and alcohol, but instead uses it for food and water. Link even wants people to know that he contradicts this stereotype that is why on p.g 77 he writes on a piece of cardboard NON-ALCHOLIC HOMELESS PLEASE HELP.
