It is early 2001 and Diamond Chemicals is currently facing declining corporate profits and the start of a global economic slowdown. There is a strong possibility of that the sometimes volatile polypropylene industry shrinks with the business cycle. The plant controller would like to put forward a proposal for a £9 million plant renovation to complete deferred maintenance and improve efficiencies.
