With the Gestapo having the power to arrest without trial, the SS running concentration camps, force was one of the main reasons that Hitler stayed in power. Although some people believe it was propaganda, - Goebbels propaganda was so absolute that even those with access to foreign newspapers found themselves a little taken it. Shirer - Hitler was a skilled propagandist but gave most of the credit of his work to Goebbels. Between the rallies and parades, political opposition was weak and didnt take the chance to overthrow Hitler when they could. Besides this, Hitler was popular; many admired him for the economic, social and foreign policy success he had brought about. Hitler was also lucky, for example the Reichstag fire, whether it was a set up by Hitler or not and the great depression ending in 1933 when Hitler came to power. These five issues are key reasons for the Nazi party staying in power.
