Recycling in Hawaii Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Here in the State of Hawaii there is the recycling program as to what we call the HI $5. The HI $5 law states that you can recycle your plastic bottles or cans and in return you will receive your money back for what they have charged you when you purchased the bottles. There is a dangerous and negative impact that taxes have on the businesses climate and the public here in our state of Hawaii. There seems to be an attitude in our local government where the businesses and consumers in this state are continuously forced into accepting unfair taxes also known as surcharges to shoulder the cost of increase government spending (Joseph Hartzman, 2008).
The tax is levied on producers and consumers. Local businesses especially seem to take the largest brunt of this negative action from increased taxation which forces a lot of businesses to absorb the additional dollars out of their diminishing revenues or close their door to business due to the inability to make a profit.
