Explanation of the Issue: The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation is about to launch a new product ,Trade up, targeting importers of accessories for export-oriented apparel industry. As HSBC fells that trade finance alone is not enough to fulfill the needs of SMEs market segment, So through this product HSBC is trying to give their customer a platform for international trade. The new product is part of the banks efforts to integrate local SMEs into international trade more effectively through a well structured banking linkage. Under this product an individual importer will enjoy a maximum credit limit of taka 35 million. More importantly here HSBC will use its strong presence in major Asian economics to facilitate raw materials and machinery imports for SMEs.
