The book takes us on a trip into Stephens head and spirals around the many questions he asks himself about life and all the aspects pertaining to it. From being a loner in his childhood to reaching his final decision, and all the choices he makes in between, The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man shows how early personal stands lead Stephen to an overall position regarding life.
The personal stands that Stephen Dedalus create for himself start when he is very young.
