Abstract The purpose of this research paper is to determine whether or not now is as good a time as any to start a small business. After reviewing entrepreneurship I examine the current state of the economy including all the factors that affect the business segment. Such as unemployment, the effects of the troubled housing sector, the rising costs of food and energy and the instability of the financial services industry. I evaluate the personal and professional benefits and incentives of entrepreneurship. Finally I investigate the resources available for entrepreneurs resembling government funding for small business. To sum up my research I found that the now is not the best time to start a business unless it is in a recession proof field.
