To determine what it means to be an effective teacher, a large number of researches and surveys have been conducted for many decades. Some said it could be seen from studentsÂ’ achievement, while some looked from studentsÂ’ point of view. For example, Hay and McBer said in their research that effective teachers should possess three factors which are teaching skills, professional characteristics and classroom climate. (2000) Other researches talked about qualities and skills like teaching strategies, well-organization, teacher-student relationship or professionalism. Most of these studies, however, were done in countries like Australia, England and America. With all the environment set in the western atmosphere, the question on whether these models can be applied to the eastern society is raised.
