No civil society is flawless. But America, the home of democracy and freedom, is viewed as the ideal country. It was established to be a safe haven from dictating or monarchial governments. A place where people can come and have the opportunity to practice any religion they desire, own property, have rights, and live better lives taking pride in their state and new nationality as Americans. Contemporary civil society has strayed from this notion. Today, with a capitalist economy, America seems to be all about profits and technological advancement; often ignoring its citizens at the bottom of the social ladder. In capitalism the citizens grasping the majority of the money and clout are becoming increasingly rich and powerful, while the lower class becomes increasingly poor and in need of assistance.
