In the poems Neural Tones, A Meeting with Despair and I look into my glass by Thomas hardy, reflect on the truth of experience. This is shown throughout the poems and is the foundation on most Thomas Hardy poems. Thomas Hardy was known for writing about experiences and wrote quite a few poems about his wife’s death. To many people Thomas Hardy started to really focus on poetry after his wife’s death. In the poem I Look into my Glass, Hardy talks about an experience of his where one day he look into his mirror and realised that he was getting old. The poem is written with a sad feel to it as Hardy has realised that he is getting old and he hopes his heart won’t grow old and die. This poem is seen as an experience of Hardy as it has a clear description of what he sees and how he feels about it. The poem is seen to be gloomy and makes the reader feel sad for Hardy as he now realises he is getting old and death will come soon. Neutral Tones describes a scene with two lovers standing by a pool. In the second verse the few words they share lessen their love for each other followed by......
