Analyzing the poem Janet Waking Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The poem “Janet Waking”, written by John Crowe Ransom, includes a mixture of many connotations that lead the speaker to express that a child’s inexperienced realization of death is unavoidable and disappointing. Ransoms title directs a reader towards imagery, mood and the theme of the poem. It might suggest the reader to think about entering into the world with a new perspective or different mind-set than before. On the other hand, it is understandable that a reader would imagine a girl who awakes from her sleep one morning and the poem will tell the reader a description of her day starting the moment she wakes up. In other words, this title is short and reasonably easy on the outside, but has meaning within it. “Janet Waking” is a seven stanza, four line poem which is neither short nor long. The speaker begins the first line with a peaceful tone by using the word beautifully and reveals a warm setting where you can assume that the character of Janet is in her bed asleep.
