Scottsboro Trials Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The Scottsboro Trial and the Similarities in To Kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is set back in the nineteen-thirties, a time of adversities and misfortune in Alabama. With Harper Lee’s outstanding writing skills she uses this novel as a modest way of informing our nation about the truths of racism in not only our courts, but our every day life and society. Harper Lee grew up with and inside view on justice because her father was a former newspaper editor and proprietor, who also served in the state senate and practiced as a lawyer in their home town of Monroeville, Alabama. Harper, as did her father, believed in being just doing the right things (Harper Lee 1). Her novel To Kill a Mockingbird is shown to be greatly influenced by the Scottsboro Trial, a trial that was fueled by racial conflict in the nineteen-thirties. There are many ways that the two stories are related because they both come from biased opinions (Johnson 1).
