As stated on realmovies.com, Felon is based on true events within the notorious California State Prison in Corcoran during the 1990s, where there was allegedly fights organized in the yard, gladiator style, where they would place bets and shoot at them for fun. Although the officers were eventually acquitted of charges, the movie gives a little more justice. (Henderson)
It starts out with Wade Porter (Stephan Dorff) as your hardworking average Joe, with his own construction business kicking off, a lovely soon to be wife named Laura (Marisol Nichols) and a precious young son named Michael (Vincent Miller). One night when a burglar broke into the familys home, Wade acted on his natural instinct to protect his love ones and hit the burglar on the head with a bat while the man was running away, leaving him dead. Wade is found guilty and is sentenced for three years after taking a plea bargain his lawyer advices him to take. But on his way to the prison he is drawn into a quarrel whose repercussions cause his sentence to be lengthened and lead to his confinement in a high-securi......
