While the mass murders and suicides at both Jonestown and Masada share some similar aspects, the two are different in more ways than one. A forced, ritualistic mass muder/suicide to escape and a forced mass murder/suicide to escape. They seem similar enough, a large group of people take their own lives in order to escape religious persecution. But while the two share the quality, they also share more. Upon further inspection, one might find small details in one story which do not lend themselves to the other. The leaders of the two groups, the people, the situations, and the ways in which the lives were ended. The differences speak loudly. The year is 1978, the era of peace, love, and acceptance. Or that's what everyone thought. The People's Temple religious group has just finished work on a commune in Guyana, appropriately named after it's founder- Reverend Jim Jones. Everything was perfect.
