Alexander the Great was known to have cut the Gordian Knot with his sword and thus be entitled to rule all of Asia according to the prophecy that surrounded this legendary knot. Unsurprisingly, people take this as an interesting story and admire AlexanderÂ’s solution to this puzzle, even going as far as calling it the Alexandrian Solution. What would have been the reaction though if a peasant had come up with a similar solution? Would it still be considered a marvelous solution? Would an arrest for damaging the sacred knot not have been a more likely outcome? Power is something that affects everyone around us through methods such as fear, intimidation, blackmail, or on the flip side more positive attributes such as inspiration, leadership, charisma, and admiration. There are many different factors that can make someone come into possession of power, and also many ways to use it and affect lives.
