The definition of a light emitting polymer is an organic polymer that glows (emits photons) when excited by electricity. Light emitting polymers respond to an electrical current by giving off visible radiation and they can be made into thin films or sheets. Light emitting polymers can also be called polymer LED, which LED stands for light-emitting diode, or polyLED and is a technology based on the use of polymer as the semiconductor material in LEDs. Polmers are chemical substances that consist of large molecules that are, themselves, made from many smaller and simpler molecules.
