Halfway into a 200 mile trip to Chicago the cars temperature gauge starts to quickly rise, and the engine begins to sputter as smoke creeps out from underneath the hood of the car. Unsure of what to do, the driver pulls over onto the shoulder of the dark, deserted highway. As he picks up his cellular telephone to call for assistance, he wonders how this could have happened.
If only the gentleman in the example above had mastered the skill of basic auto maintenance, he might still be on his way down the road to Chicago. The average person probably couldnt tell the difference between an oil filter and an air filter. That same person probably does not know the correct water to coolant ratio that goes in the cars radiator. And I doubt that person has any idea what the correct air pressure is for that cars particular model of tire. Air filters, water/coolant mixtures, proper tire pressures; these are fundamental elements of basic automotive maintenance. The consequences of not having basic automotive maintenance skills can be more than just monetary, they can be deadly.......
