Othello Dramatic Irony Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In Othello by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare’s use of dramatic irony intensely effects the audience’s perception of the play. First, Shakespeare uses Othello to create ironic situations that effect the way the audience perceives the play. Secondly, Shakespeare changes the way the audience experiences the play by using Iago to create scenes that involve dramatic irony. Thirdly, Shakespeare uses Desdemona to create ironic situations that play on the emotions of the audience as they witness the play. By using dramatic irony openly throughout the play, Shakespeare is able to effect the way the audience experiences the play and say something about his ability as a writer. Shakespeare uses Othello to create ironic situations that effect the way the audiences perceives the play. For example, Othello says that “Iago is most honest” (Act 2, Scene 3, Line 7). However, the reader knows that Iago is planning to convince Othello that his wife, Desdemona, who he has eloped with, is cheating on him, which she is not.
