The true world is hidden by layers of filters. These filters manipulate our perception of almost everything if our lives. We must understand what problems and benefits these filters have so we can understand the world. Filters play a major role in two areas of knowledge ethics and art, and affect our perception, emotion, and reason. Filters prevent us from understanding what happens in the area of ethics. Whenever we use ethics to determine whether or not to do, or to pick between two things, our perception plays a huge part, and the filters are the root cause. So when we do not understand why our perception might be misconstrued then we are allowing for ignorance to run our lives. In 1866 the Ku Klux Klan, the KKK, decided that because blacks were different that they could go around threatening and killing them. Additionally, we can view this through the way of emotion. When we understand why we have made an emotional decision then it allows for one to truly know what emotion has influenced that action.
