Marianne Moore is renowned for her modernist poetry, which caused disapproval not only to critics of her time but to later ones as well, through her new attitude towards poetry. Moores modernist movement from the traditional form of poetry based on stanzas with regular line lengths was abandoned and replaced with free verse which could almost be classed as pros but in choosing to set it out in the form of poetry enables her the freedom of speech through her poetry.
Moores experimentation with poetic form is most apparent in Poetry which at first glance appears to conform to the traditional structure of poetry, however on further analysis it is evident this poem is juxtaposed towards the original form of poetry with her use of enjambment creating a scene of communication to the auditor. In using this form Moores Poetry enacts the point the poem makes, with enjambment standing for freedom of speech and emphasis on key words genuine enables her to achieve a dig at the critics to be more imaginative and expressive through poetry, relating it to everyone not just ......
