Sam Walton started the Wal-Mart legacy when he opened a discount store in Rogers, Arkansas, in 1962. On October 31, 1969, Wal-Mart officially became a corporation, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. By 1990, Wal-Mart was the top retailer and in 1991, the company went international with the opening of a store in Mexico City. In 2006, Wal-Marts $4 generic prescription drug program was unveiled.
