Everyone reacts differently when finding out that they have epilepsy. When my son was diagnosed with epilepsy at two, I read the papers given to me by my sons neurologist and researched it on the internet. Looking through the resources again that were given to me by my sons doctor, I have found some are ok with it and just continue on with their lives like one of the young ladies in the pamphlets. Kayla focused on how her epilepsy allowed her to interact with a lot of great people like her doctor and the lab workers. She also started working closely with her Biology teacher on an independent study. (Abbott, p. 19) Others, like Jared, have difficulty coping with it.
