Dolls House Summary Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

A Doll’s House Summary Plot- A Doll’s House is a play with three acts, written by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen in 1879. This play was in effect the turning point in the history of drama because of its rather controversial topic. The play is about a stereotype housewife of the time who becomes discontented and disillusioned by her patronising husband. It is set around Christmas time in the Helmer family home. Some strong themes run through the play, including feminism, money and bad relationships. This play is linear and is plot driven. The protagonist is Nora Helmer the wife, yet there is not a single antagonist. There is in fact two, firstly Torvald Helmer the husband, secondly Nils Krogstad a co-worker of Torvald. Initial situation- Act I- Nora comes home from shopping on Christmas Eve. Nora's friend Mrs. Linde, recently widowed and short of money, has heard about Torvald's recent promotion and comes to ask Nora to help her in persuading Torvald to give her (Kristine) a job, which he does. Problem- Nora confides in Mrs. Linde that several years ago she saved Torvald's......
