The cosmological argument is based on the belief that everything in the natural world has a cause. It is used to suggest the existence of god through the claim that the universe cannot have caused itself. St Thomas Aquinas came up with a theory known as the five ways as shown. 1. The unmoved mover. 2. The uncaused causer. 3. Possibility and Necessity. 4. Goodness, truth and nobility. 5. Teleological. These arguments are based on experiences and are classified as a posteriori ideas. However the first three arguments constitute the cosmological argument. There are various arguments both for and against the cosmological argument. The first argument for the cosmological argument is that if contingent beings exist, then they must be caused by other contingent beings. If instead it was caused purely by itself then it would have had to have existed before itself which is impossible. Therefore that which cause a contingent being must either also be contingent or must be the non-contingent prime mover. In other words, that which causes the being must either be a part of an infinite chain ......
