Educating Americas Pregnant Teens Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Approximately 820,000 girls become pregnant each year in the United States. Of these teens, approximately 80% will drop out of high school and eventually become dependent on a government assistance program. This means higher taxes to cover the cost of welfare, food stamps and even free health clinics, which are funded with our tax dollars. By educating these teens and helping them to provide for their children, Americans can help limit the amount of government assistance required to support these families. This means less tax for the working-class individual.
Up until the late 1980s or early 1990s, continuing education through the public school system was not an option. Girls were usually sent away to a home for unwed mothers where the child was either given up for adoption, or the girl gave birth and then tried to find a way to support the child on her own. The word abortion was not even whispered.
Today more teens are opting to keep their child versus adoption or abortion. This fact has a lot to do with the fact that society views have changed. Today, because society......
