Jesse Owens Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Jesse Owens, whose real birth name was James Cleveland Owens was born on September 12, 1913. He was born in Oakville Alabama. He was one of thirteen children. His parents name’s were Henry and Emma Owens. His dad was a runner. Many people said his dad was the fastest runner in the whole country. J.C. enjoyed fishing, swimming and playing hide and seek, but his most favorite thing to do was run. When he was a small boy he wasn’t a very good runner but loved to do it because he use to watch his dad run on Sundays and knew that it was something you could do all by yourself. He was very sick when he was young because the house they lived in was like a hut. It was only made with cardboard and a few wood planks and the roof always leaked. Not like the houses today, the hut didn’t have a bathroom, a stove and no running water. Jesse always had pneumonia and the problem was there were no good doctors in Oakville , Alabama. In 1920 Jesse met Charlie Paddock, an Olympic Gold Medalist and Jesse began to dream about running in the Olympics too. I......
