Emerald Forest Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

“The Emerald Forest” In the film, “The Emerald Forest,” an American engineer, Bill Markham, was assigned to build a dam at the edge of the Brazilian rainforest. Shortly after his assignment began, his son Tommy was captured by an indigenous tribe. A feathered arrow left behind by the tribe was Bill’s only clue in finding his son. A vibrant display of cultures, traditions, spirituality, and folklores were expressed in this film. There were observable cultural differences and similarities between the indigenous tribes and that of my own. Similar to Tommy, I was born into the American culture and lived with my parents until the age of three. At this very young age, I migrated to Haiti with my aunt and was forced to adapt to an unfamiliar culture and language. The seven years spent in Haiti allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of its rich culture, conservative traditions, and religious values. In “The Emerald Forest,” the captivating interplay of primitive musical instruments, rituals, beliefs and spiritual practices sparked memories from my childhood. In the family......
