People who text while they drive are making a deadly mistake. Text messaging and driving simutaniously is an enormous distraction to and affects the drivers ability to drive tremendously. This is proven through statistics of outcomes of those who try to text while they drive; however, there are ways to prevent yourself from this dangerous habit such as individual responsibility and what states are doing to protect drivers.
Drivers ability to drive safely is prohibited when attempting to text at the same time. When driving, one needs to focus all of their attention on the road. Teenagers themselves agree that text messaging is the biggest distraction they face while on the road. Drivers you do not focus on driving and text, are at more risk to causing an accident than driving under the influence of alcohol or marijuana.
