Today I want to explain to you why the Ute is an Australian icon. Form a letter a framer sent, the Ute was invented and is one of Australians popular cars. It demonstrates the hardworking attitude of the outback and that it can be used not just for work but for play as well. It became popular by being affordable and practical at the same time. Utes are only made Australia and New Zealand and are exported to nearly every country in the world.
The story of the first Ute begins in 1932, when a farmers wife sent a letter to the ford Motor Company saying Why dont you build people like us a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday, and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays? At the time farmers could not get a loan form the bank to get a passenger car but only for a farm vehicle thus if it rained on the way to church you would get wet as there is no cabin. When the letter arrived at ford Lewis Thornet Bandt had the job of designing and building two prototypes of the Ute. On first sight of the prototypes ford asked to start production right away and roll out a total of 50......
