Few people have never gone to see a play. Theater may have died down since the introduction of film, but thatÂ’s only made the experience that more special. The kingpin of the theater, of course, is Broadway. Any show on Broadway can be considered the cream of the crop. We hear about the shows all the time. The Lion King, Cats, and Phantom of the Opera are three of them just off the top of the head, but how many producers (the ones responsible for the shows) do you know? The 2005 movie, The Producers, focuses less on the play and more on the makers in this comedy/musical. The Producers became a smash hit with its wonderful plots, all star characters, and catchy music and songs.
The movie is set in 1959 New York, when a producer of Broadway musicals is in the middle of a loosing streak. It seems any show that Max Bialystock (Nathan Lane) produces can do right. One day he meets up with a highly neurotic and loopy accountant, Leo Bloom (Matthew Broderick). Together they discover that they could make more money with a flop than with a hit, and get to work finding a guaranteed disast......
