Education vs. Identity Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Learning is not always easy. Everybody who has been educated, has been exposed to the crucial skills of being able to read and write. In the essay “Learning to Read and Write,” Frederick Douglass, who became part of literate through his struggles as a young slave, shows us how hard he dedicated himself during his childhood to become a reader/writer. He wrote in a way that we can clearly see his determination to become educated. As he was achieving his goal, he could recognize his harrowing experience as a slave. For most people, learning is not an eccentric process as it was for Frederick Douglass. However, learning is always worth the effort, not only for making a person’s ego stronger, but for making the individual to feel more independent and free in society. Nobody can perform in any society successfully without the ability to think on one’s own. We need to gather as much knowledge as possible before making any decision.
