Analysis Of Anita - A Small Family Business Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Anita’s character, at first, is not given much significance. However, during the course of the play her character rises and she is portrayed as a strong and powerful woman. She can be described as both morally corrupt and emancipated. Her character is the only woman in a position of importance during the play. She could be seen as a consequence of the times the play is set in. During the 1980’s Britain was known as Thatcher’s Britain and she was sometimes referred to as the “iron lady.” Anita can be looked at as a reflection of Margaret Thatcher, a strong and influential woman in power. During the first key scene Anita can be thought of a stereotypical woman. She is flirtatious, silly and giggly. “(From the darkness, with a silly giggle).” Anita can be seen as a typical woman who acts very femininely and blends in with the others. She isn’t at the party with her husband but with another man and leaves with him as well. At this point Anita’s morality is brought into question for the first time as her faithfulness to her husband could be doubted. However, at this point she ......
