A Tale of Two Souls: Hamlet and Macbeth Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
In both of William Shakespeares plays, Hamlet and Macbeth, two characters, one in each play, are similar in many ways. Although King Claudius is not the main focus in the play Hamlet, he is very comparable to the powerhouse character Macbeth. Both are taken over by their conscience. Sometimes our thoughts and ideas lead us to the right place, only if we evaluate it correctly. However, if one does not follow their conscience they can suffer through the consequences or follow their conscience and enjoy the benefits. Both characters choices lead to their downfall. Once one bad decision is made, the next is made because of the original choice. Thus, the decisions made by both Claudius and Macbeth led them to experience the torture from their conscience. Macbeth and Hamlet show their similarity through their behaviors, motivations, and outcomes.
