“Unto Us…” Is a poem by Spike Milligan. It expresses his strong belief that Abortion is wrong, personally I feel that Abortion is a more complicated issue than the poet thinks. In this essay, I will explain Spike Milligan’s view on Abortion as shown in the poem and decide if it is a fair view. The poem is about a baby living in it’s mother’s womb until it is aborted. There is a before and after. The baby’s mood changes in the second part of the poem. At first, the baby “lived on trust” It wants very much to love it’s parents. “I will bring you love” it promises. The parents “committed themselves” to the baby when it was conceived. However they betray their baby’s trust and choose not to let it live. They are made to seem selfish and incapable of love. The baby’s mood changes to anger. It is angry with it’s parents and with the murdering doctor from expensive, respectable “Wimpole Street”. The poet uses first person narration so that the story is told entirely from the point of view from the unborn baby. Since the other characters do not speak for thems......
