A Summary of Night by Elie Wiesel Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The year was 1941 where Night began in a small town, Sighet, in Transylvania when Elie Wiesel was twelve years old. The Wiesel family consisted of his father, mother, and three sisters- Ellie being the third and only son. His father was a “cultured man” who was known around the community for his advice on numerous matters. Elie was known for being a studious young boy, devoted to furthering his studies and faith in his religion. His father was not really supportive in Elie’s religious aspirations and encouraged him to focus more on school. A poor man named Moshe the Beadle became his religious teacher. In 1942, Moshe was deported and taken away from Sighet, but returned and told of his escape and the danger to come from the German Army. No one listened and years passed by until 1944. The Jews, including Elie Wiesel and his family, were sent to ghettos and awaited their deportation to Auschwitz, a German concentration camp.
