The ancient Athenians political system was run similarly to ours today, but with a few differences. One thing we have in common with the Athenian political system is that we share the name, Democracy. Some key aspects of the Athenian political system include their system for the advancement from boyhood into manhood and to claim his citizenship, their judicial court system, and their electoral system for finding the political office holders. Looking into some key aspects of Athenian politics, we can see where some of the foundations for our current political system stem from.
When an Athenian boy reached the age of 18, he was tested on his ability to become a man. Before being tried, the boy must prove that he is 18, and that both of his parents are born citizens. After the initial questionnaire is passed, the boy is sent to an examination by the Council. Following the Councils final decision, the boy is either sold as a slave by the state if he fails the examination, or they advance on to their military training.
