Embryonic stem cell research is perhaps one of the most controversial topics of health and science that exists today; it is both a strongly supported and equally protested ethical issue; I too am on the fence about embryonic stem cell research. The controversy is fueled by adamant protest from pro-life organizations and the support from scientists around the world; although in the case of scientists, some do not support embryonic stem cell research but rather hold interest in adult stem cell research. Since this is a topic of much debate, there are, of course, two sides to the story; there are pros to embryonic stem cell research, and there are cons. To start, there is a much unknown fact about embryonic stem cell research; the embryos used are a product of in vitro fertilization. The embryos are four to five days old; these embryos will not be used by the parents and are donated to research, with the parentÂ’s consent.
