Ethics is learned at an early age and stays with one throughout one's life. However sometimes there are instances where one becomes unethical, not because of not knowing that it is not the right thing to do, but simply because of other various reasons. For whatever the reason it is not the honest thing to do, in the finance world there are rules and regulations to follow, if for any particular reason they rules and regulations are not followed then there are repercussions that will follow. With the different problems that have occurred within different organizations, questions arrive as to whether the Financial Officer's codes of ethics are actually a help or hinderance? The code of ethics in any organization is really based on common sense, what you are to do, how you are to behave, to be honest and loyal to the company and other employees.
The FEI's (Financial Executives International's) code of ethics Colson and Haupert (2003) stated that the first three points set out in FEI's code are almost identical to the wording in ruction 4.06:
