As Long as the Rivers Flow by Paula Allen and Patricia Smith was a book of important Native Americans that have made a difference in the Native world today. While reading this book I realized I wouldn't be able to squeeze all of these people into one book report. So I figured I will write my report on the ones I feel are most important. I feel these people were the most important because of the impact they had on the Native people that surrounded them. I hope you feel the same way I do after reading this book report. Weetamoo was a very intelligent young woman of the Algonquin Pocasset Tribe near Rhode Island. She was born around 1640 to the tribal leader, Corbitant. As a young girl Weetamoo had many tasks in her daily life, and she also played games. She knew that the games she had played would help her in her future adult life. Corbitant believed the English would bring nothing but trouble, but after being troubled by the other tribal leaders; he finally got irritated to the point where he felt obligated to sign a treaty stating that his people were now the subjects of King James......
