Each Poem deals with the death of a young person. Discuss how each poet describes the death, the grieving process and the effect on the family, paying close attention to the language and poetic techniques used. In this essay I will look at the following poems; ''Out, Out-'' by Robert Frost and ''Mid-term Break'' by Seamus Heaney. Both these poems include the tragic death of a young boy and both poems explain or touch upon the grieving process of the families involved. I will analyse the two poems in depth and look closely at the similarities and differences between them. Both poems cover the topic of youthful deaths using sensitive and depressing language. They both set very touching, upsetting atmospheres using a uncomfortable awkward approach to the deaths. Throughout this essay I will compare the way both poets approached the death and the way in which they chose to share their emotions and experiences with the reader and how that effects how we feel and react to the poem.
