NIGHT by Elie Wiesel compared to ADAM by Kurt Vonnegut Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The role that family plays in the survival of the human spirit can be directly related to any connections that two people share to allow them to rely on each other for survival. In both Night by Elie Wiesel and "Adam" by Kurt Vonnegut there are characters that use each other in order to survive. These characters influence the other's will to survive, which is why I agree with that statement. "Adam" supports the idea that family plays a large role in survival because of the main character Heinz. His only family is his newly born baby and his wife Avchen. The rest of his family was killed in a concentration camp during the Holocaust. "Little Peter, little Kroll" he said softly, "little Friedrich - and there's Helga in you, too. Little spark of Knechtmann, you treasure house. Everything is saved in you" (Vonnegut 288). This quote shows the connection that Heinz already has with his newly born baby and how much the baby means to him. The word 'treasure house' and the phrase 'everything is saved in you' are good examples of imagery. It can make a person believe that he's symbolizing ......
