Criminal Data Comparison
"Murderers are not monsters, they're men. And that's the most frightening thing about them" (Seabold, n.d.). Murder is defined by the uniformed crime index as the unlawful killing of a human being (Schmalleger, 2006). Murder can be put into three categories: first degree murder, second degree murder and negligent homicide. First Degree murder is considered a plan attack which requires premeditation. Second degree murder is considered a crime of passion in which the intent to kill and the actual killing is almost simultaneous. Negligent homicide is determined when a person is killed during an unlawful or negligent. In these cases, the accuser did not intend to kill anyone.
