What was the state of the Weimar Republic in 1924? Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

The state of the Weimar Republic was vastly improved in comparison to what it had been a few years earlier. Germany had been in utter turmoil, its whole political system having had to be rewritten as the Kaiser abdicated in 1918. The Socialists, the Kaiser's enemies, had been quick to take over and rename it the Weimar Republic; yet even though they were in power, their oppositions still remained. Still, the German public (having been disillusioned by the First World War) had an inborn respect for the rulers; subordination and following of orders still remained in their nature. The Germans had always needed a strong leader, who would fight for the benefit of the people and that's what they saw in the Socialists. Lead by Freidrich Ebert, The Socialists were quick to sign the armistice with the Allies which the civilians saw as betrayal as well as the Treaty of Versailles which was the cause of the "stab in the back myth", the Kapp Putsch and the crisis in the Ruhr all of which weakened their support from the public.
