In Audre Lorde's "Open Letter to Mary Daly," she says she is grateful for everything she has learned from Daly. Lorde says she wrote this letter in hopes to "share with you the benefits of my insights as you have shared the benefits of yours with me." (Pg. 66) However, after she praises her, she goes on to criticize her for her lack of recognition of colored people in the history of female power. Lorde seems to have a very biased opinion about every perception of womanhood in history. She only speaks of it from her point of view, which is a black, lesbian, feminist, when rather she should take all views into perspective.
Audre Lorde emphasizes in her letter that Daly has inspired her, but then she says that she didn't approve of her Gyn/Ecology text. I feel as though she only cares about the oppression or views of colored people being expressed and that any history that has to do with white or European ancestry is of no importance. Although all history is of importance, we should not just focus on one area rather than another.
