The Shakespeare Project Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Let me begin by saying that this was the most modern play I have ever seen. The play opens with the cast storming in clapping and cheering. Some actors would be on the stage while the rest sat in front of the stage making small comments on the side. The stage used for this play was a thrust stage which allowed the actors to do this. There were chairs on all sides of the stage except the front and that is where the remaining actors would sit commenting. There were two screens on both sides of the room which displayed pictures and which Shakespeare play the reenactment would be from. The whole play was simply a modern reenactment of scenes from several of Shakespeare's famous plays. It was goofy and silly and probably intended mostly to relate to children as well as those who have not read most of Shakespeare's plays, me included. Though it was at times quite difficult to understand the humor in some scenes due to the fact I had not read that particular play.
