The Germans have invaded
In 1998 Steven Spielberg directed the most anticipated and realistic war film of all time, Saving Private Ryan, starring: Tom Hanks, Vin Diesel and Matt Damon. In the opening sequence Steven Spielberg recreated the landings on Omaha beach, also known as D-Day. This film was said to be the most realistic recreation of world war 2 ever. Steven Spielberg used superb camera angles and unique sound effects to make the film as realistic as possible down to the bullets passing through the water and having an underwater camera to capture the soldier's underwater movements. In this essay the four following scenes will be discussed briefly; The transition from present to past, The instant chaos, Captain Millers confusion and The end of the battle.
The transition from present to past scene was filmed with multiple camera shot varying from far shots to see all of the graves, to low shots to capture views of the tomb stones and also medium shots to see (older) private Ryan's facial reaction when he sees Captain miller's tomb stone. There were also patriotic shots......
