Born a girl or made a girl? Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

I believe that the fact that I have XX chromosomes show that I was born a girl. No matter what I do in life, I will always be a girl because I will always have a female body. I don't think that the social learning perspective is right because a girl playing with a male gender-typed toy doesn't make her a boy. She is still a girl in every way. You don't need to wear pink or play with dolls to be a girl. A lot of girls even have male names. The social learning perspective basically says that you can be influenced to be a specific gender. Like if a boy grew up wearing pink, playing with dolls and owning a girl's name, it would make him a girl. The biological perspective says that females have XX chromosomes and males have XY chromosomes and that's all there is too it. A female can only be female because of her chromosomes and the same with males. You cannot change your sex because you prefer male gender-typed colours and male gender-typed toys.
