Romeo and Juliet - Modernized or Luhrumannized? Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
The best-known interpretation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is in my opinion believed to be the spectacular 1996 adaptation of Shakespeare's most romantic play, directed by Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, which is a film, modernized of Shakespeare's play, designed to appeal to a younger modern audience.
The Script by Craig Pearce and Bas Luhrmann keeps to the same lines and plot as Shakespeare's text, however this is mostly due to the actors speaking the similar lines in the same way, which the actors of the Shakespearean era would have spoken which astonished me that the Shakespearean language is still included in today's modernized films. This in my opinion was extremely efficient as it convinces the audience that the film is really an exceptional version of Shakespeare's play. Anything else, which Luhrmann has presented, shows many inventive ways to create both modern and faithful adaptations of any Shakespearean play.
In this film, there are many miniature issues, which have been changed to modernize the film; Verona, instead of a medieval Italian city, is a megalopolis......
