Abstract There are several characteristics that a company must have in order to be recognized and noted as an innovative organization. Since the founding of the company more than eight decades ago, the Walt Disney Company has mastered incorporating many aspects of innovation into its business strategy. The Walt Disney Company was founded in 1923 by Walter Elias Disney and Roy Disney in southern California. With nothing but dreams and determination, the Disneys moved from Kansas City to California with aspirations of selling his Alice Comedies (based on Walter Disney's cartoon creation Alice's Wonderland) to a distributor and on October 16, 1923 a New York distributor by the name of MJ Winkler contracted the release of the Alice Comedies and this date is recognized as the official founding of the Walt Disney Company; originally called the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio with both Walter and Roy being equal partners in the company.
